Mmmmmmmmeat Sauce!

Get ready to learn how to easily make the best meat sauce ever!  This little gem is courtesy of Ben's mom's delicious recipe :).  Ben and I have made it often!

This will serve 6 to 8 hungry peeps.

What you need to make your new favorite pasta dish:
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 can of traditional spaghetti sauce (they usually come in 26.5 ounce cans or jars)
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can of diced tomatoes (drained)- garlic and oregano flavored if possible!
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 small jar or can of sliced mushrooms (drained) if desired (I highly suggest)
  • about 2-3 tablespoons brown sugar (this is a must!  I swear it's the secret--well not anymore--ingredient)
  • 1-2 teaspoons dried Italian seasoning
  • 16 ounce package of noodles

Let's get started!

Start browning the meat and add onion, minced garlic and chopped green peps!

While the meat's browning and the veggies are getting tender, combine the rest of the ingredients (except for the noodles!) into a large saucepan or pot.
Mushrooms and diced tomatoes

Spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, mushrooms, brown sugar, diced tomatoes and Italian seasoning.

Once the meats and veggies are ready, drain the excess fat and stir the meats and veggies into the mixture you were preparing.

All the ingredients together

Bring your pasta sauce to a boil then reduce to a simmer for 30 minutes to an hour.  This helps bring out all the yummy flavors!

Ta-da!!!!!

Cheers!

Love to have home-cooked meals with good friends...it's Cuban food at their place next time!

Love,
Hannah
