Interesting photo I stumbled upon...not sure if it's fit for Emma (red toy poodle) and Jack (black toy poodle), but I can dream.

A new way to eat popcorn...

There's caramel, parmesan, plain, salted, olive oil, cheddar, butter...and more when it comes to popcorn flavors. But have you ever heard of honey popcorn? Bet not...until now! I love dipping popcorn in sauces--particularly ketchup and ranch dressing--but I now have a new love for dipping popcorn in honey :). Since I'm still doing the no baked goods, candy, chocolate thing, I have to be creative, right? So next time you're popping a bag of popcorn, take out a bowl and squeeze some honey in it. You'll be dipping through the whole bag!

It's Pink Day

While there is no historical reference out there as to why June 23rd is recognized as National Pink Day or where it came from, I do know that I love the color pink and any excuse to wear pink (like a National Day) is fine by me! So today, let out the fun, girlie side of you (men included) by sporting the color pink.  I know I will be.

Besides clothes, here are some more pink little gems to love...
  • Pink peonies. Can someone say weddings!?
  • Breast Cancer Ribbons. Pink for a good cause.
  • Elvis’ pink Cadillac he gave his mom. Can I have one?
  • Pink Lemonade. I’d like to see more pink lemonade at the neighborhood lemonade stands. Just a thought...
  • Pink diamonds. They exist. Just ask J Lo.
  • Cotton Candy. Pink tastes the best…there’s blue too, and purple, and yellow. Yumm.
  • Bubble gum. Bazzooooookaaaaaa! But I suggest using sparingly...may cause molar soreness due to constant chewing.
  • Nail polish. I may or may not have hot pink on my toes right now!

Tickled Pink,

Fiesta Friday ~ Guiness

For some reason I think it is so cool what happens to Guiness when you pour it from the bottle into a clear glass.  See transformation below...

Magic...

Tada!

Not only does it look cool but it tastes good too.

Watermelon Fruit Basket

A few weeks ago we went to Billie's house for a mini BBQ, and to accompany our turkey burgers, beef burgers, veggie burgers and snacks, Billie carved a watermelon into a fruit basket and filled it up with fresh fruit!  Took a photo of her fruit basket by the pool.  It is such a great idea to take to BBQs this summer...I strongly suggest it!  But don't ask me how to do it!  It's Billie's masterpiece.

"Power of a Smile Day"

Today, June 15th, is Power of a Smile Day! So, I thought I'd post about it to help people share some smiles today.

Lots of things make me smile, and I thought I'd post something I have in my office that makes me laugh/smile every time I look at it.

This lovely photo was taken at Sigma Nu's Mountain weekend our Junior Year in college.  Such a special picture and everyone has to comment on it when they see it posted up on the cabinets at my desk haha.

Find something that makes you smile today and share it...bring smiles to someone else's face!!!!!!!

Maracas!

There's this incredibly colorful restaurant located just south of Oakland Park on US-1...it's called Maracas.  Every time we'd pass Maracas I'd talk about how badly I wanted to go.  I mean there were streaming lights, a wide screen projector on the patio, colorful patio umbrellas, multi-colored walls--how could I not be tempted!  Finally, a coupon came up on one of the coupon sites I use (I'm on 4 different ones, just sayin) for Maracas: $15 for $30 worth of food and drink.  I bought it in a heartbeat.  A few weeks ago, Ben and I went and had a grand old time.  We sat at the bar and made friends with another group of people at the other end of the bar.  Funny how that happens...

Pre-margaritas: I wore my technicolored scarf for decorative purposes--I matched the restaurant--which, by the way, had a life-size sombrero when you first walked it.  It was great.

Got me a "Skinny Margarita" for round one.  It was so good!  After that we got the 2-4-1 house margaritas.  Again, so good.

For food? NACHOS.  I'm not a big fan of Mexican food for two main reasons: 1. you smell like the restaurant after you leave and 2. everything tastes like EL PASO seasoning mix.  I don't get it.  But there are certain Mexican restaurants where they have black beans on the menu and other food items that don't leave a Mexican-flavored-burp taste in your mouth for 24 hours.  Maracas is one of those good ones.  (there's Zona Fresca too--yum).

Planning on going again sometime soon.  This time, we're going to bring along more people with us so they can enjoy Maracas as much as we did!

Segway Tour...don't judge till you try it

This is probably up there on teh top 10 most fun things Ben and I have done together this year.  We first heard about going on a Segway Tour from JNay and Will, who did one last year while on vacation.  Because they raved about it so much, this year for Valentine's Day, Ben got us a Segway Tour that we finally used a couple weeks ago!  It was SO SO SO FUN and hilarious and we even got up to 12 mph (Ben claims he went faster but whatever).  So next time you laugh at the mall cops speeding past the Food Court, or the random people rolling down the street...think twice.  Because it's YOU who's missing out :).

Segway, you know you wana,

Shoesday

The first time I heard about Christian Louboutin shoes was when Kelsey came to South Florida a couple of months ago for some JP Morgan stuff.  One night, Swood, Kelsey, Avi, Ben and I were walking downtown and Kelsey brought up Christian Louboutin shoes.  I wasn't part of the conversation, but overheard it and said something to the extent of, "Oh!  I didn't know Louis Vuitton made shoes!"  I was genuinely excited because I think that would be awesome (granted Louis Vuitton may already have shoes but not cute heels like the one below).  To my dismay, Kelsey and Swood laughed and informed me that they were talking about "Christian Louboutin" shoes--a company I had never heard of.  Since then, I know the shoes and LOVE them.  Check out these cute ones!  They look like little bunny tails, but the lace detail on the sides of the shoe are lovely.

June is...National Dairy Month!

Here's a post a did for UA last week...thought I'd share it to help spread calcium awareness!!!

"June is...National Dairy Month!"
Last week I learned something new about the Month of June. June is more than just a month where hot flashes creep up more frequently, your air conditioning bill jumps two fold, the beach gets overcrowded, and hurricane season starts. With the bad comes the good, and in June there’s also Father’s Day, the last days of school, and—to my new-found pleasure—it’s National Dairy Month! (Apparently June has been recognized as Dairy month since the 1937, but who’s counting.)

Because it’s National Dairy Month, we thought we’d help spread awareness on the health benefits of calcium found in many dairy products…and share with you all some of our favorite dairy products.
The Facts:
According to the Food and Nutrition Board, here are the recommended daily calcium intakes for men and women ages 14 – 70:

  Age             Male                Female
14 – 18       1,300 mg            1,300 mg
19 – 50       1,000 mg            1,000 mg
51 – 70       1,000 mg            1,200 mg
Where can we get calcium? It’s actually more prevalent than I ever thought! Calcium can be found naturally in some foods, added as a supplement to other foods, or in dietary supplements. Here are some examples of common sources of calcium:
- Dairy products (specifically lower-fat dairy products like 2% or skim)
  • Yogurt
  • Milk
  • Cheese
- Non-dairy
  • Salmon
  • Spinach
  • Broccoli
  • Orange juice with calcium
  • Tofu
In addition to helping prevent osteoporosis later on in life, proper calcium intake has several other health benefits ranging from helping to reduce cardiovascular disease, lower blood pressure levels, manage weight and more.

What are our favorite dairy products?

I asked several people around the office what their favorite dairy products are and two answers stood out the most:

1.Ice cream
2.Any kind of cheese

Pretty general, but maybe we all love all sorts of ice cream and all sorts of cheese, and well, all sorts dairy!

How does UA get their calcium intake? Unconventionally appropriate—the cows in our prints.  Who said we can't celebrate with scrubs? Check out this classic UA print:

What’s your favorite source of calcium?!?

Fiesta Friday ~ Orange Creamsicle

You have no idea.  Get it.  It's called Orange Whipped by Pinnacle and it tastes like those creamsicles we used to devour at the Pine Crest Cafeteria back in high school, and middle school, and lowerschool, and pre-school (for me...13 years of my life).

That's all I have to say about that.

Wedding Inspiration ~ Flowers + Mason Jars

So I love flowers, we love mason jars, so why not put them together!  Loved this pic:

Not sure if I want to apologize for all the wedding posts because I love doing them, but just in case some of you are getting annoyed...I'm sorry!  But I can't help it haha.  I mean, this Friday, we are going to look at flowers so it's all on my mind :).
