Pre Registry Shopping

Yay!!!  Two weekends ago Ben and I went to Macy's to check out their selection for wedding gift registry.  It was so much fun to look at everything we'd like to add to our "Dream List" which will become a reality over the next year and a half :).  While we were signing up for a registry, I scored a free lip gloss.  I'm not a big lip gloss fan (sticky lips yuck) but it was free!

Going to Vegas again this week for the MAGIC trade show!  Going to have to take a little time off from the blog, but stay tuned!

Yeah, we saw her (#20)!  Went to a local soccer game where several of the USA soccer team players were playing on their professional teams (or something like that).  Kinda cool, just sayin.

Atlanta's World of Coca Cola Factory!

When Ben and I were in Atlanta late last month, we had a free day to roam around the city, so we hit up the Coca Cola Factory!  Ben had heard that included in the self-guided tour of the Coke Factory was a room where you could taste almost every single kind of coca cola product out there. Um, hello, I was so there. It was going to be like a buffet of sugary drinks..slurp.  

And buffet it was.  We left drowning in soda, with a major sugar head ache, and extremely bloated stomachs.  All 100% worth it.

The tasting room was the last stop before leaving the factory, so what did we do during the rest of the tour? We swiftly dashed through the history rooms and whatever else rooms there were (honestly we didn't really care, we were way to excited to make it to the second floor).

Going into the tasting room was glorious. If you were there with us, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have been able to tell the difference between Ben and me and the 8 year old kids running around tasting every type of soda known to man.

Who even knows...we just wanted to make it to the tasting room.

 But we tried to at least somewhat appreciate the "tour."

 

Yeah, I took a picture of all the machines...but I'll save you from boredom--or jealousy.

 

And of course they had a REAL coke machine!  So good..even better than fountain soda from McDonalds...which is tough to beat.

Fiesta Friday ~ Skinny Girl Margaritas...Bethenny Frankel taking it to the next level!

Bethenney Frankel.  Two major cool things about her.  Most importantly? She went to PCFTL (Pine Crest)! We may not have graduated at the same time, but it doesn't take away from the fact that I feel connected to her remotely and it's kinda awesome.  Next cool thing about her is the fact that she has her own version of my new favorite drink (ever since my Maracas experience, I've been obsessed with margs)--Margartas! But not any margarita, her Skinnygirl Margarita.

Last week, Ben and I stopped by the Publix liquor store and were graciously welcomed with a life-size poster of Bethenny and her Skinnygirl Margarita drink NOW SOLD IN STORES. Go Pine Crest, just saying!  Of course, I had to get it! And. They. Are. Good.

When's the last time you built a fort out of blankets?

Um....oh about a week ago! The first weekend my family came back from Spain, Ben and I went over and hung out for a little. After about an hour or so, Ben said, "Want to build a fort?!" How could I say no! We used to build them ALL THE TIME when we were little.

No camera at the time except our Blackberry phones to sorry for the quality!

Here's the fort after Ben and I worked on it.



Then Isaac and Noah got involved and took it to the next level.

Good memories and good times. It was actually a lot of fun and I strongly suggest it, if not for the sake of remember the days when we could ACTUALLY fit in forts haha and when crawling on our stomachs was easy...things change :)

DIMS ~ Pinwheels

As part of my preparations and excitement for the 4th of July, I decided to do a little DIMS project and make pinwheels! Festive 4th of July ones, of course! Then, proceeded to decorate our apartment with them for our 4th of July weekend BBQ :).

4th of July...Just one month ago!

As you already know, I looooove love love the 4th! And as I had planned and hoped, I got to spend it with friends and family!  Plus, Ben and I turned the 4th of July into a 4th of July weekend, which included a very fun and festive Saturday night bbq with a bunch of friends where we learned our condo has a really baller grill.  Here are two pics from Monday the 4th where me, Ben, Avi, Billie and Berkley had a mini festivity of our own.

Billie and I thought it was only appropriate to make a blue drink (man-o-war tini, duh) and a red drink.

Bridesmaids ~ Katherine Heigl will be jealous

27 dresses you'll never wear again? I hope I picked a line of dresses that the girls can wear again!  I chose to go with designer Ivy & Aster because she is a new designer with a creative and most importantly, flowy look! So comfort all the way...I tried one one haha.

The fabric I chose for the bridesmaids is silk chiffon in the color Cherry Blossom (a very light pink) and they get to choose whichever dress style they like.  Check the dress options out at Ivy & Aster!

Fiesta Friday ~ Big Gulp + Anything

When I think Big Gulps, I think super big cups filled with secret drinks held by sneaky people down the street who (not to be mean) often also live on the streets.  But how bad have you wanted to indulge in a Big Gulp sans the street living part!?!

If not before, now you'll want to try it because honestly, the 7-eleven slushees in a Big Gulp cup mix well with anything!  I suggest getting a more "sour"-tasting slushee (like the Crystal Lights), but that's me.  It hides tastes well.

Homemade Granola

Verrrryyyyyy versatile recipe!!!!!  And the perfect morning, afternoon and night snack :)

Add whatever you want...but here's what i did:

• 3 1/2 cup quick oats
• 1 cup maple brown sugar oatmeal (3 individual packets)
• 1 1/2 cups cereal (cheerios)
• 1 cup dried fruit and nuts combo (added extra in the end for more nuts and more fruit!)
• 6 ounces honey (or half a small 12 ounce container squeezy bottle thing)

1. Mix dry ingredients first.
2. Add honey and mix until honey makes everything stick slightly together (more so than before at least haha..those oats are pretty flakey).  Pretty much you want to cover everything.  
3. Spread granola mixture onto the biggest baking sheet you have...but make sure the baking sheet has edges!  Or you can stick part of the mixture into two separate cake pans.  Either way, you want to make sure your mixture is no more than 3/4 inch thick (this is what I've come to realize works best).  Oh and don't forget to grease the baking pan or sheet!
4. Stick granola in a preheated oven at 375 degrees until golden on the edges and slightly golden in the middle (depending on your oven and how thick of a granola layer you created it can take anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes).  
5. Allow to cool and nom nom nom nom nom...share share....everyone will love it!

July is National Ice Cream Month...see ya pact

It's national ice cream month and last night I broke my no sweets pact....with Ben and Jerry's Half Baked Ice Cream and it was so worth it.

July 6, 2011 National Ice Cream Month

July is National Ice Cream Month, a more-than-appropriate name for the first full month of summer. When you’re hot, you want to be cold, and there’s no better way to cool down in the hot sun than with some ice cream and glass of ice-cold water or milk (because you know that for some reason after you finish your ice cream you will be so incredibly thirsty…it happens every time). Plus, July is perfect for celebrating National Ice Cream Month because it seems like almost everywhere on television, print ads, our memories…summer is coupled with an image of basking in the sun while scrambling to eat a double-scoop ice cream cone before the mountain of ice cream begins to melt down your hand and drip on your bare toes. (Summer flip flop tans? Got em. And for some reason it’s so hard to get rid of it.)
At UA, we took it upon ourselves to ask around the office and find out what everyone’s favorite ice cream is. After asking some of our fellow employees/ice cream fanatics, we realized there are too many good flavors out there to get a general consensus. Here are a handful (by handful I mean list) of some favorites:

■Ben & Jerry’s Chunky Monkey

■Häagen-Dazs Pineapple Coconut

■Dark Chocolate

■Dulce de Leche

■Mint Chocolate Chip

■Cake Batter

■Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

■Cookies and Cream

We then asked “How would you describe the perfect ice cream sundae?” And here’s what some of us said:
■Anything that has brownies mixed in it…

■Classic Vanilla with Sprinkles or Fruit on top

■Banana split with three different kinds of ice cream, hot fudge and a cherry on top

What’s your favorite ice cream flavor? Toppings? Are you the store-bought kind of person or the homemade type? (Me? Homemade strawberry ice cream—extra the strawberry chunks—please!)

Taking a brief hiatus...
